The holiday season is officially here! After all that happened, 2021 Thanksgiving is bound to be different from others. This year, we have been challenged with a variety of occurrences which may not suit our liking. However, it will never be a reason for us not to celebrate and be grateful for our achievement, no matter how small. Today we are going over things you may take for granted in life and ways to celebrate Thanksgiving in 2021.
Health has always been the top priority for everyone. However, after the pandemic broke out, people have been able to see firsthand how influential health is in our daily life. Without good health, it is impossible to do virtually anything else. Despite the past two years not being the best time for everyone, at least we could be grateful for our good health.
People say having a faithful family and strong friendship are privileges. Indeed, that much is true. If you are fortunate enough to have a supportive and caring family, take a moment to be grateful for that. Yet, even when not, you could always rely on strong and encouraging friendship. Sometimes, having people outside of your family truly care about you is the best gift anyone could ask for.
If you don’t live in a high-tension country or a warzone, count yourself a lucky one. In fact, many people around the world do not share a sense of safety with most of us. Food is often scarce, and not to mention the threat of living in a warzone, you could lose your family any day or hour. Thus, take time during this holiday to appreciate how fortunate you are despite your hardships.
Going out and gathering might not yet be available for everyone. There are people who have not been vaccinated for one reason or another. It could also be that the country some people live in has not yet loosen their travel restrictions. While it is indeed unfortunate, we could not let that hinder the festive season of Thanksgiving 2021.
One way you could celebrate together with your friends and family is by sending each other letters. Of course, you can also exchange emails or personalised greeting cards on social media (if you are using free templates, don’t forget to be responsible with it!). However, in the era where everything is digital, sometimes human touch feels better to have. Writing letters can be an exercise for your brain amidst a busy life. Moreover, you can also use this chance to mention at least one thing you are most grateful for to each of your friends and family members.
As a matter of fact, even before the pandemic, we have been dealing with a global crisis for a long time which is climate change. Among a lot of different reasons, overconsumption and irresponsible consumerism are among the top causes of global warming. For the past year there have been issues surrounding fast-fashion and its impact for the environment.
A way to celebrate Thanksgiving while participating in the effort to mitigate climate change is by donating your stuff. Not only does your stuff help unfortunate people save money, it will also increase the lifespan of your stuff. This means the longer it takes for the stuff to be discarded in the dumpster which will eventually be a waste.
Being that some of us are still locked down inside our home, what else is there to do to celebrate thanksgiving besides having a full-blown pampering time for yourself. You can take a long shower (which is good for preventing eczema) or maybe have a little manicure pedicure session to spend the afternoon (Did you know that Harry Styles recently launched his own beauty brand which includes pearl-inspired nail polishes?). Anyhow, the main takeaway is to use this time to take care of every one of your little cells that has been working hard sustaining your life.
