Introverts at the workplace might not be the best ideal situations. However, as we are seeing the dawn of the post-pandemic era, companies start to call their employees back to office. Is this bad news for the introverts?
Well, yes, if you are unprepared. Maybe social awkwardness gets the best of you. Or worse, you are not in any way ready to meet your colleagues again, half of which are new people whom you have never met before! If you think about it that way, obviously it is going to be a catastrophic event. However, it does not have to be the case. Today, we are going through some tips and tricks for introverts to get a better transition from WFH to WFO!
Surely, even if you are an extreme introvert, you must have some colleagues you actually enjoy talking with, right? Then, try to reach out to them and strike a conversation. We know, it is something you try to avoid or even dread. However, think of it this way; by chatting up beforehand, you can receive updates from them. Then, use this information as a conversation-starter when you two actually meet. Moreover, you can also ask them to join you during lunch and spare you from the dreadful social situation!
The worst case scenario for introverts at the workplace is to have an unpredicted situation. This and maybe you can add the nightmare more by having to deal with many people all at once. A good way to prepare you for this is to prepare well everything you think you might need at the office. This includes all your belongings and maybe documents other people may ask from you. By preparing ahead, you are half-preparing for the worst! And if the worst does happen, you already expect it so hopefully you are ready when it happens.
Our last tip is to remember that anyone could come up with infinite numbers of reasons why a plan may go wrong. Yet, in reality, none of those things ever happened. There are reasons why nightmares stay in the dreamland. That said, it is still beneficial to prepare ahead, especially for introverts with high levels of neuroticism. So, good luck!
