So, is it any surprise that you should struggle taking care of something as sorry and wretched as you are?
When we feel at a low- what is really happening is that our long forgotten traumas, thoughts, words and deeds are rushing to the surface.
Often times it manifests as an anxiety attack. It feels like we can’t breathe.
Every little task, then, seems monumental and you are paralyzed with a certain out-of-body helplessness.

In the moment, you claim no responsibility for yourself. You don’t like yourself enough to care.
If a sinkhole swallowed you whole, you wouldn’t mind it.
So how then, do we get out of this pattern of thinking? Gratitude.
Gratitude does NOT mean accepting your circumstances and being happy with everything. Instead, it means being grateful that you are aware of what makes you unhappy (opportunity for change), and being thankful that you have free will and tomorrow to do it.
Have faith that you are not alone in this struggle.
Despite the fact you are not all that you could be right now, the proper attitude to have towards yourself is the attitude you would have towards someone you genuinely care for.
