Stefan Cooke Designed Men Clothing for The Sims 4

EA is teaming up with the London-based brand, Stefan Cooke, for the upcoming Modern Menswear Kit for The Sims 4.

The brand’s co-founders, Stefan Cooke and Jake Burt, are looking to redefine menswear in the world of The Sims 4′. Called The Sims 4 Modern Menswear Kit, 23 pieces from the pair’s recent collections from the AW21 collection in March have been recreated. This includes the wool varsity coat and skirt, to the brown flower-print sweater with the upper chest slit. But the most iconic looks appears to be the digitalized version of their quilt-style sunny yellow slasher jumper.

In an interview with i-D, Cooke and Burt recounted the times when they would spend time playing The Sims at friends’ houses. “What The Sims offers did resonate with us [..]. It gives people options to express their identity, as we [similarly] hope our clothing gives people options to express themselves.”

At first, they thought EA would want showpieces or the most extravagant options for their players. Yet, it was not the case since the giant company turned out to look for a balance which they saw in Stefan Cooke’s collections. “It made us balance the range. If you’re offering a slashed jumper then you also need to offer a really easy to style pair of trousers.”

The experience has been eye-opening to the London designers to say the least. Throughout the collaboration, they learned more about digital fashion and the concept of metaverse. “People treat their virtual selves as an extension on their physical selves and often want to dress similarly to how they would IRL. This connection between people and their online selves is something really interesting to explore.”

Cooke and Burt also shared their experience of working with a team of game design for the first time. Initially, they did not necessarily associate craftiness with game designing. However, after seeing first-hand how much time and effort is put into each of their digital collections, both of them are quite amazed. “A team of people [digitally] hand-painting textures to match IRL fabric textures is really impressive!”
