Moncler Listed as One of the Most Sustainable Brand in The World

For the third year in a row, Moncler is named one of the most sustainable brands in the world according to the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2021. This assessment follows the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, a widely known index among investors for sustainable businesses. Thus, all companies in the list has to have a sustainability-driven business models which line with environmental and social responsibility criteria.

The Italian luxury brand received the highest score out of the textiles, apparel and luxury goods’ industry. Moncler has also been reporting on its sustainability performances and targets each year.

“If I look back and think about every single person’s commitment at Moncler, I believe we’ve done a lot in these years to integrate sustainability in our business model,” commented Remo Ruffini, Moncler’s CEO. Then, he added, “If I look ahead to the urgent social and environmental challenges, I realize that we need to gear up. Young generations are disillusioned and keep reminding us that the time of words has now ended and there is only room left for action”.

How is Moncler sustainable?

In 2020, Moncler presented its new strategic sustainability plan called ‘Moncler Born To Protect’. Ever since, the label has made note-worthy changes with its production process. At first, they transitioned into using only 100 percent biodegradables materials for their outwears. Also in the same year, th showed its commitment in green energy by using 50 percent renewable energy (they plan to hike it up to 80 percent by the end of this year).

Not only that, Moncler also champions diversity and inclusivity by placing 56 percent of women on their managerial positions. It also makes use of its resources to protect 50,000 children from cold weather conditions in collaboration with UNICEF.

Additionally, over the years, Moncler has supported various global issues including:

  • Recycling Down Integrity System & Traceability (DIST) certified material scraps, including nylon
  • 100% down tracing and certification according to the DIST
  • 30% of Moncler Genius 2021 outerwear come from sustainable fabrics, including recycled nylon and polyester, and organic cotton
  • 100% sustainable packaging for end-consumers
  • All outerwear manufacturers follows social and ethical impacts
