The 2022 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund came through with a big surprise of announcing a whole 10 finalists as its awardees.
On April 27, 2022, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue announced its CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awardees. However, this time is not like the previous years. Instead of presenting one top prize and two awards to runners-up like in the past, the fund is offering grants to 10 American brands.
The ten finalists include:
“Our 10 finalists are a wonderful reminder that great fashion isn’t only wildly creative, but that it comes with a conscience,” said Anna Wintour, the global editorial director of Vogue.
She continued, “I’m so proud of this year’s group; they represent the very best of what America can be – and what it can stand for.”
Then, aside from Anna Wintour, the members of the 2022 selection team include Brother Vellies founder Aurora James; designer Thom Browne; model Paloma Elsesser; and Instagram director of fashion partnerships Eva Chen.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is well-known to be the stepping stone for every emerging designer’s career. Moreover, All finalists will receive the $400,000 prize and a year of mentorship from some of the industry’s biggest names. Surely, with abundant resources and unlimited network, finalists can expect some life-changing trajectory for their brand.
