Ever heard of Darren Star? No? Well then, how about ‘Sex and The City’, ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ or ‘Melrose Place‘? Yup, Darren is the guy behind all these prominent, pop-culture-shaping shows and returns once again to the small screen with this comedy-drama featuring Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, who moves to Paris because of work. Darren says, “She’s an American girl who comes to France and doesn’t speak any French, she has opinions about how to do things, but finds out ‘the American way is the best’ doesn’t always hold true and she makes a lot of faux pas,” of Lily’s character.
Based on its trailer, the show revolves around a 20-something, American marketing executive who goes to Paris to work for a luxury French beauty company. But all is not as easy and glamorous as it seems. Emily has to go through the challenges of being in a new country, making friends, working alongside new colleagues and encountering new love interests. And with the stunning city of Paris as backdrop, we are expecting a lot of amazing things to happen!
You can also see from the trailer that Emily wears some of the most remarkable ‘fits. Her forest-green jacket, puff-shoulder floral dress, red beret with a checked monochrome blazer – all très chic! But her stylish looks are not all that surprising given the person behind them is Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning costume designer and stylist, Patricia Field, who led costume design for ‘Sex and the City’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ Iconic!
10 30-minute episodes of Emily in Paris will drop on Netflix on 2nd October.
